RUNNING 101: CHOOSING THE RIGHT RUNNING SHOES.
For athletes or a normal person who love to jog, running shoes plays a major role in keeping our leg and feet in good condition. But before considering the right running shoes for us , we have to consider the shape of our feet firstly. There are three main foot types which are flat, neutral and high arches. Here's are some tips in buying the right running shoes :
1. Visit a local runing store to have your gait analyzed based on your foot type and biomechanics. Experts will recommend a shoe that works best for you. In general, flat footed runners are fit into control motion shoes to help to slow down the rate of overpronation , while those of moderate to high arches are fitted to cushioned or stability shoes which provide a mild amount of support but still flexible and well cushioned.
2. Choose which feel is right for you. Do you prefer to feel the responsiveness of the road with every stride, or do you like the cushioned ride of a more traditional running shoes. The models of running shoes are endless but choosing the pair that suits your personal references and as well as the running environment .
3. Make sure that you have a half to a full thumb's nail lenth from your big toe to the end of the shoe. This may require going up size in your street shoe. Running causes your feet to swell so you will want plenty of room in the toebox. If your toes are crammed up in the front of the shoe, you could develop blister or black toenails.
4.Before buying take a short run around the store to test the fit, function and comfort before you make your final purchase. Make sure that the shoe you choose feels great when you are running not just standing.
5.To prevent injuries replace your shoes every 300 to 400 miles depending on the surface you are running. Running in old, worn out shoes is one of the most common cause of running injuries . Overtime, our shoes lose cushioning , stability and and shock absorption . You'll know when you need to replace your running shoes when you feel.
