Finally came the finishing point, I crossed the line and I made it, I manage to slay the kraken even without lifting my sword. Made myself to the counter and registered my number for the certificate and got my finisher medal. I wasn't in the top 10, to hell, i wasn't even in the top 100, but that was okay as I came with only one thing in my mind that is to cross the finisher line before the cut off time. The rest of the day I just treated myself with all the famous food in Penang.
On the 27th of November 2016, Asics ( well known sports
apparel manufacturer ) has organised an international marathon on the famous
Penang bridge. Since I have never joined an international marathon before, the
excitement and curiosity made me sign up for it.
As I'm staying far, I had to get to Penang a day before the
marathon. Most roads were blocked and Penang was way more packed on that day
like never before. As the clock tick pass 5 in the morning, I got up and
prepared myself for the run, I could the feel the euphoric rush in me as the
cold morning breeze swept by me.
I had to walk for few miles before reaching the starting
point as roads are blocked and no cars could get through. This was good as I
could warm up before the long run. As i got closer to the start point, the
crowd density got bigger, you could see many runners all pumped up just
awaiting for the whistle to go off.
At 7 a.m they officially flagged off the marathon. It seemed
like a very long route, especially when I was running on the bridge, it felt
like the bridge just got longer as I have never crossed the bridge on foot, but
trust me the view was breathtaking and it is a staggering scenic nature in
west coast.
