The Barclays Premier League (BPL) - the most watched football league and arguably the best league in the world,for the season 2015-2016 was won by guess who? Nope its not the Manchesters or Arsenals or Liverpools or even the Chelseas.It was won by Leicester City Football Club. Jaw-dropping isn`t it? The whole world was basically at shock not just you and me.The odds were against Leicester for the whole of the season until they actually lifted the cup.
To underline how long those odds are, some other scenarios bookmakers offered shorter odds on in August 2015 (as collated by BBC Newsbeat):
- Reality show host Simon Cowell to become UK Prime Minister: 500/1
- Loch Ness Monster to be discovered: 500/1
- Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge to have triplets: 1,000/1
- Elvis Presley to be found alive: 2,000/1
- Kim Kardashian to become President of the United States by 2020: 2,000/1
Another hilarious statement made by an ex-footballer (Gary Lineker ) was that he would host a football show in his underpants.Gary Lineker has gone rather quiet after Leicester won the league. LOL! The odds that were placed on them were 5000 to 1 at the start of the season which means Leicester City would have to play in the BPL for 5000 seasons before they can win it once.
Having said all of this i really have to say i admire the passion and hard work this team has shown.Its about the passion and this minnows from nowhere have shown that money does not dictate anything and definitely doesn`t buy you success .The most important thing is the love for the beautiful game which was shown by the players of Leicester City.
