Cadet Life.

In April 2015, I joined my first ship which was APL Detroit. It was a long voyage because I spent almost 8 months on board this vessel. It was a West-Asia Express voyage which calls for Singapore, few ports in China then back again to Singapore. Then continue the voyage to Middle East side, Jebel Ali,UAE and Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This photo was taken in Ningbo. One of the port calls in China.

China ports coasting is the part I hate the most during the voyage because of the distance between the ports is short. Some crews don't get enough rest especially if you are unlucky. Unlucky here means when your 4 hours watch keeping duty ends and you have to wake up again 2 or 3 hours later to prepare for arrival. Usually it will take around 2 hours top before you can knock off and take rest.

Here are some photos of the vessel for your viewing :)

Cadet life, buat stencil lah cerita dia.

During one the barbecue party we had on board.

Even though the life on board is hectic sometimes, the Ship Recreational Club will organize barbecue party for the crew. Here we get to socialize with each other and eat good food prepared by the guy in the white hat, our Chief Cook.

Anyway, it was a good experience for me. I learnt a lot during the voyage and I was very lucky to get good captain and officers who always support me throughout the long 8 months.
