A Journey to the Rocks

Another short trip of mine to Stonehenge with my mates during my first six months of cadetship. after I finish my duty, we leaved the ship around 10 in the morning by a shuttle bus to the city where we took our train at Southampton Central.

Southampton Central
Luck was not on our side  that day as the train is delayed and we went inside a wrong train. Thank god we realised early, if not we maybe end up in a train to Hogwarts learning magics and shit.

This is a view inside the train
We waste around an hour because of the stupid train incident but we got back on track and doze our way off to Salisbury which took us around half an hour. After a good power nap in the train, we finally arrived at the historical city of Salisbury. A tour bus is ready every half an hour or so at the Salisbury station to Stonehenge. It cost us 15 pounds per person which is a decent price to see the big pile of stones i guess.

By the way, the 15 pounds is include free tour around the city of Salisbury, so its worth. The scenery around the city area is nothing like our place. A lot of beautiful historical buildings and cathedral that is still being used everyday up until today. The picture above shows that we are almost there.

We took another shuttle bus to the site and the rocks behind me in the above picture is the one which is called as the Stonehenge. Stonehenge or hanging stones is basically big stones that weigh up to 25 ton and measure up to 9 meter tall being arrange by somebody or something to make it look like it some sort of a place for rituals.

Does anyone really knows what is behind this motionless rocks? Some say it is a burial place, an astronomical clock or maybe people back in 3000 BC just made it to mark something. If you ask me, maybe some huge giants play with this huge rocks, you know like playing Lego and stuff and they forgot to clean it up. Hmmm could be.

After done with the rocks, we took a cab straight and rushed from Stonehenge to our port as our ship is about to depart. It cost us 90 pounds and it is around RM450  if its in Malaysia. Damn. But it was paid by the Fourth Engineer (Picture above wearing shades). We were lucky that the pilot is still not yet on board. I changed to my boiler suit and went on deck to start my work. Got shouted by my Chief Mate of course. So, the moral of the story is plan your trip properly! or if in any event that you think you cannot follow the plan, just bring one guy with shitload of cash. Definitely you will survive =).
