Similar to the later generations of the Skyline GTR's, the Nissan GTR with a twin turbo 6 cylinder engine has the signature four round tail lights. Because of the GTR's heritage, the chasis code for the all new version has been called CBA-R35 or R35for short, where the CBA is built in for emission standard, carrying on the naming trend from previous skyline GTR generations. The GTR has also retained its Skyline's nickname GODZILLA.

What makes this car name godzilla? As of 2014 the GTR was the only model built on Nissan's Premium Midhip (PM) platform, an evolution of the architecture introduced in its 2001 V35 Skyline. It is a hybrid unibody assembled on ultra low tolerence jigs similar to those used in race construction. Alcoa aluminium, is used for the hood, trunk lid and outer door skins with die cast aluminium front shock towers and inner door structures. Outer body panels are stamped using multiple strike coining process for added rigidity and precision. The chasis is stiffened with a carbon composite front cross member / radiator support.

On the exterior, Nissan developed a 6 stage paint process with double clear coat and chip resistant paint for use in critical areas of the GTR chasis. An optional liquid effect finish employs a hand polished 8 stage process with product specific Super Silver metalic paint and three layers of clear coat paint.
